What is WWW,URL,HTTP,HTTPS,SSL,Domain and Hosting?
WWW – It stands for World Wide Web.It is the collection of websites or webpages that are stored in webservers contain text pages,images,videos etc.
URL – It means Uniform Resource Locator.It is the address or location of any specific website,pages,videos etc.
Example of URL- https://digitalpathsala.com/ which is an address of “digitalpathsala”.
HTTP – 1) It stands for Hyper Text Transfer Protocol.
2) It is denoted as “http://” .
3) It sends data over port 80.
4) It operates at application layer.
5) It is unsecured.
6) No SSL certificates are required for HTTP.
7) It doesnot require domain validation.
8) Encription of data doesnot take place.
HTTPS – 1) It stands for Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure.
2) It is denoted as “https://”.
3) It sends data over port 443.
4) It operates at transport layer.
5) It is secured.
6) SSL certificates are required for HTTPS.
7) It requires domain validation.
8) Encription of data takes place before sending.
SSL – It stands for Secure Sockets Layer .It is a protocol that offers a secure connection between web servers and browsers over an unsecure network.It encrypts network connection segments which are above transport layer.
Domain – It is a name which contains the address of any website.It contains two main elements-
1) Website’s name
2) Domain name extension
For example- Domain name digitalpathsala.com consist of website’s name(digitalpathsala) and domain name extension(.com).
Hosting – It is a service that allows any organizations or individuals to post their websites or webpages on internet.Websites or webpages are hosted on special type of computer called server.
There are many hosting providers like Godaddy,Bluehost,Hostinger etc.
