The Union Budget of India is the annual financial statement presented by the Finance Minister of India in the Parliament.In Union Budget 2023,Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the annual Budget on February 1st.It will be the fifth time that Sitharaman will present the Budget.

About Current Finance Minister of India : Nirmala Sitharaman

Nirmala Sitharaman is the current Finance Minister of India, having taken office on May 31, 2019. She is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and a member of the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament. She is the second woman to hold the position of Finance Minister in India, after Indira Gandhi.

Before becoming the Finance Minister, Sitharaman held several other positions in the government, including Minister of Defence, Minister of Commerce and Industry and Corporate Affairs, and Minister of State with independent charge for the Ministry of Finance. She has been a Member of the National Executive of the Bharatiya Janata Party since 2008.

Sitharaman holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and a Master’s degree in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. She is also a graduate of the London School of Economics, where she earned a Master’s degree in International Trade and Economic Development. She is also a member of the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog, India’s premier policy think tank.

 In 2022, the Finance Minister’s budget presentation speech lasted for about 1.5 hours. Her budget speech in 2021 was the longest in India’s history at 2 hours and 40 minutes.

Union Budget 2023 Date :

The Union Budget 2023 was presented on February 1, 2023. A day before the Budget (January 31), Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman  presented the Economic Survey of India data. The budget 2023 was focused on the ITR slab rate for salaried individuals relief for the global debt investors, with standard deduction hikes etc.

The Union Budget for Financial Year 2023-24 has presented on February 1, 2023, Wednesday at around 11 am. The average duration of budget presentations is 1.5 to 2 hours.
