About Maithili Language :
1) Maithili language which is also known as Maitli,Maitili,Tirahutia,Bihari,Tirhuti and Tirhutia.
2) It is an Indo-Aryan language native to the Indian subcontinent.
3) Maithili is primarily spoken in the state of Bihar as well as Nepal.
4) The term ‘Maithili‘ came from ‘Mithila‘.
5) It was the language of Mata Sita who was the princess of Mithila and wife of King Rama.
6) It was also the language of Mahakavi Vidyapati and he wrote many padawalis in Maithili.
7) Mathili songs are very popular in mithila region of Bihar.
8) This language ‘Maithili‘ was recognised by Sahitya Academy in year 1965.
9) It is one of the sweetest language of the world.
10) 15 million people speak Maithili in India where It is one of the country’s 22 official languages.It is also used in education,mass media such as magazines,newspapers,radio,TV as well as in literature.
11) Maithili is mainly spoken in Bihar and Jharkhand in the districts of Darbhanga,Madhubani,Saharsa,Samastipur,Muzaffarpur,Begusarai,Sitamarhi,Munger,Purnea,Katihar,Khagaria,Kishanganj,Bhagalpur,Madhepura,Supaul,Vaishali,Ranchi,Bokaro,Dhanbad,Jamshedpur and Deoghar.
12) 3 million people speak Maithili in Nepal where It is the second most widely used language.
