Purnea has completed its 251st anniversary on 14th February 2021 which is one of the oldest districts in the history of India.But Purnea is still waiting for development after 7 decades of independence.So,on completion of 251 years of purnea,gem of city raised a voice on twitter.The youth of this city ran a campaign on twitter by using ‘#SubCapitalPurnea‘,on which about three thousand tweets and thousands of likes were recieved in within three hours.The particular hashtag was trending in top 30 for many hours.

Let’s know about Purnea :

1) Purnea district is very oldest and one of the 38 districts of the Indian state Bihar.

2) Purnea has received its name from the oldest temple of Mata Puran Devi which is located at 5km away from the main city.

3) Purnea is a part of Mithila region.

4) On 14th February 1770 the district of Purnea in modern history was formed by the East India Company.After that,every year 14th february is celebrated in memory of the city’s origin as –Purnea District Foundation Day.

5) Purnea district is going to celebrate 251st birthday on 14th February 2021.

6) The celebration of Purnea District Foundation Day was formally started in year 2008.

7) Dukarel was the first DM of Purnea.He introduced many reforms in justice,revenue and administration.

8) Now the DM of Purnea is Mr. Rahul Kumar,IAS.

9) If we talk about subdivisions of Purnea district then it has four subdivisions which are : Purnea Sadar,Banmankhi,Baisi and Dhamdaha.

10) Dr. Prachi was the first civil surgeon of the Purnea and It is said that she has introduced the people of purnea with allopathic medicine.
